Optical-Signal-Processing Device Based on
Waveguide-Type Variable Delay
Lines and Optical Gates
An optical signal processing device mainly used for time slot switching is described. It contains variable delay line arrays made by planar light wave circuit technology. It operates based on the pronciple of serial to parallel conversion, adjustment of the delay time between the parallel signals, and the gating of optical bits in the optical region. It does not require any interaction between light waves by optical non linear effects or filter banks for code matching.
