The project entitled Route tracking system has been designed to ,track the path through which the message or data packets passes through the various routers. A visual display ,of the traced path is given on a world map. It also helps to locate faulty routers on the network. It is developed using VC++ as the front end and MS ACCESS as back end. Existing system does not give a visual display of routers through which data packets passes. Also, it does not provide the complete details of the routers. Moreover, it is time consuming. The existing system is implemented using JAVA.
The proposed system uses the technique of Trace route and geographical information system when, locating the computers or routers on the Internet. It can be used to trace the route taken by data packets from source system to the destination system. By using Route tracking system, we can identify the IP address as well as other details of the routers, through which data packets pass. The location of router is done visually on a world map. Thus whenever there is a problem in the network or in a data transmission due to faulty router, the route tracking system can pinpoint the exact system in the network that was the route of the problem.Thus with the help of Route Tracking system a well defined idea of which routers are evolved during transmission can be studied.
